About Frankly: Cards for Connection

Frankly is a pocket library of conversation card decks for the iPhone. Nine decks, 522 cards, one question on the screen at a time. You swipe to move on, and where a card has a deeper follow-up you tap the card to turn it over.

The whole app is written text. There is no AI in it and nothing is generated while you use it, so the questions are a fixed set that a person wrote and put in order.

What is free: the 24-card Icebreakers deck in full, plus the first five cards of each of the other eight decks. That is 64 cards of 522 with nothing to pay. After that a deck costs $1.99 to $5.99, or All-Access covers the library.

It ships in ten editions across nine languages, and it is the card text that is translated, not only the buttons. English is native. Spanish, French and Ukrainian have had a full editorial pass but no native sign-off yet. German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese are machine translation waiting on review, and the app says so rather than pretending otherwise.

There is no account and no sign-up, and the cards work with the phone in airplane mode. Anything written in the app is stored encrypted on the device, with a 256-bit key held in the iOS Keychain. The app does call RevenueCat at launch to check purchases, and crash reporting is on.

iPhone only. It runs on iPad in compatibility mode, and there is no Mac version.

Sixty-four of the cards are also readable on the web at https://frankly-cards.netlify.app/questions/ and are free to quote.

What Frankly: Cards for Connection does that nothing else does

Nothing is generated at runtime. Every one of the 522 cards was written and ordered by a person, and the card text itself is translated into nine languages, not just the interface.

Who Frankly: Cards for Connection is for

Couples, friends and families who want a better opening than how was your day, and anyone running a dinner or a workshop who needs a question to start with.

Can I buy individual decks, or do I need an All Access subscription to unlock the full library?
