About InkMarshal
InkMarshal is a local-first desktop writing studio for novelists who want a complete manuscript workflow without handing their work to a hosted workspace. Start with a vague idea or a complete concept, shape it through a conversation, build an outline, draft chapters, and polish the prose with AI suggestions.
Your manuscript, settings, models, and project knowledge stay on your machine. Use the bundled local engine first, or connect a compatible local server or your own model provider when you choose. A living character bible and worldbuilding notes keep continuity close while you write. Work offline, preserve snapshots, recover drafts, back up your project, and export open TXT, PDF, or DOCX files.
InkMarshal is built for long-form fiction: one focused manuscript room from blank page to finished novel. It deliberately avoids a hosted writing workspace, platform credits, and a required cloud account. The current public release is for Apple Silicon macOS.
What InkMarshal does that nothing else does
Local-first novel writing from idea to open-format export, with a living character bible and your own model path—without a hosted workspace or platform credits.
Who InkMarshal is for
Novelists and long-form fiction writers who want a focused desktop workspace, local or self-directed AI, and ownership of their manuscript—especially writers who prefer offline work and open exports.

Can InkMarshal handle very large novels and keep the character bible and world notes consistent across all chapters?
Haosheng LiMaker
Yes. InkMarshal is designed for long-form projects. It stores the manuscript chapter by chapter and uses a structured Story Deck for characters, locations, rules, timelines, and outlines. During drafting, it combines the relevant canon with recent prose, chapter facts, rolling summaries, and volume-level summaries, then checks each generated chapter for continuity issues. Once the draft is complete, Whole-book Unification scans the manuscript in batches and presents suggested fixes for review. Series projects can also share worldbuilding across books and flag certain cross-book conflicts. Our automated scale QA currently covers an 80-chapter, 106,690-word novel with 86 knowledge entries. InkMarshal greatly assists consistency, but it does not claim perfect automatic continuity—the Story Deck should remain up to date, and important canon changes should still be reviewed.
