RME: PDF & Document Scanner

RME: PDF & Document Scanner is a privacy-first, open-source Android scanner for turning paper documents and existing files into searchable, organized PDFs without relying on a proprietary cloud service.

It supports multi-page scanning, image and PDF import, document filters, multilingual on-device OCR, OCR review and correction, batch OCR, full-library search with direct jump-to-page, searchable PDF creation, smart local document-name suggestions, and PDF or JPEG export.

Documents can be organized in folders and subfolders, backed up and restored, moved to a new phone, and migrated from scanners such as CamScanner, Adobe Scan, Genius Scan, and Microsoft Lens using standard Android sharing and the system file picker.

RME does not require an account and does not include ads, analytics, tracking, cloud OCR, or a proprietary RME document backend. The app itself requests no INTERNET permission. Optional OCR models may be downloaded by Google Play services, while document recognition runs on-device.

The project is designed for people who want a capable everyday scanner while keeping control of their documents and files. The source code is publicly available under the Apache License 2.0.
